Ranks- Blue and up, under ranked teens and adults at instructor discretion.

Gear- All gear must be in good repair and present at tournament (no missing gear)

Judging- Sparring will be judged on a point system. Strikes to the chest protector are the only legal area. Punches will count as 1 point and kicks will count as 2 points. Strikes must be under control and with good technique to receive credit. Grazing strikes will not count for points. If the opponent falls to the ground, you will have 3 seconds to strike. Each round will end at 5 points, or 2 minutes (whichever comes first). There will be no head contact allowed and no sweeping of the legs. If the competitor falls or shows bad control after 3 warnings, the opponent will gain 1 point.

    Grappling:

Ranks- Blue and up, under ranked teens and adults at instructor discretion

Gear- All gear must be in good repair and present at tournament (no missing gear)

Judging- Competitors will begin the match from a kneeling position, marked with a colored band (red or blue). The round will last a total of 2 minutes. Grappling will be judged by a point system, however submissions/tap outs result in an automatic win (submissions advanced division only). The following positions are worth 1 point; full mount, side Control, rear mount. The guard, half guard, and north/south position do not count for points. If a competitor attempts a submission (such as paint brush, arm bar, triangle, or guillotine) but their opponent does not tap, 1 point will be awarded for the technique. A judge can call a round based upon a competitor’s safety. Neck cranks, and any type of small joint manipulation is not permitted. Competitors may not stand up at any time.
