This week at EFK we are discussing the importance of helping others. There is a Chinese saying that goes: “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.” For centuries, the greatest thinkers have suggested the same thing: Happiness is found in helping others.
We help others for the greater benefit of all. Helping others uplifts the spirits of both the helper and the helped. Everybody needs a little help sometimes, whether big or small. Think about the last time that you helped someone and how you felt afterwards. It brought you happiness. Or better yet, think about the last time that you received help from someone else. Remember, be willing to lend a helping hand for your help may mean the world to someone else!
